Winter Keeps Fighting

Picture From Sarah Garland April 7th, 2018

We need to watch next Wednesday and Thursday for very cold temperatures and possible record lows.

Wednesday morning

GFS 37°

Euro 37°

Record low 38° in 1983

Thursday morning

GFS 45°

Euro 44°

Record low 38° in 1937.

I think the lows Thursday morning may be lower than model guidance

A frost/freeze will be possible, especially northern Arkansas. If the winds diminish enough, we'll have to watch for frost further south.

Wednesday morning Euro lows.

Wednesday morning GFS lows

What about snow? Why not? It has happened in April several times in the recent past, but mainly over northern Arkansas with little to no accumulation.

It would not surprise me at all to see a little Tuesday north as the strong front moves through the state.

GFS Tuesday late morning/early afternoon

Euro late morning/early afternoon

When will it warm up? I think most of the remainder of the month will be cool, but there are signs a warm up should get underway late this month into the beginning of May.

Until then, the cool air will shut down the chance for any significant severe weather.
