Tornadoes Target The South

It's stunning to see how many tornadoes have been confirmed from Mississippi to Georgia so far this year. Tornado season starts early in the year for that region of the country as the jet stream reaches the southern United States. Typically, it advances north slowly and so does the focus for tornadoes. However, this year has been a bit different.

These numbers will increase over the next few days as more surveys are completed. Can you imagine 71 tornadoes by this time of the year? That's exactly what Alabama has dealt with so far. It's remarkable we have had more tornadoes in Arkansas compared to Oklahoma. However, that will likely change quickly as we head into May. 5 tornadoes so far this year in Arkansas can be considered quiet. Our yearly average is 33. As I always say, stay weather aware! It only takes 1.
