BIG NovemBRRRRR Chill and Something Else

It's that time of year we start to receive healthy cold snaps and the models start showing snow chances.

Remember this, the models will show more than 100'' of snow between now and next March. It will have dozens of snow chances when in reality we only have very few. In short, models are NOT forecasts.

We have a very good chance for our first widespread freeze Saturday. Another blast of cold air arrives by the middle of next week. This is very important. Temperatures may drop under 29 at that time and we might be able to crank up my snow machine for the 1st time this season.

But what about Mother Nature's own snow machine? Yes, the models show the rain changing to light snow as the cold air moves in Tuesday. Is it likely? No. Is it possible? Yes. How's that for covering myself. LOL. It's one run of the models and as I said above, the models will do this all winter long. Has it ever snowed in November? Yes. In November 2014, we had a very light snow for portions of central and northern Arkansas. We'll watch it.

THE EUROPEAN WENT A LITTLE CRAZY LAST NIGHT. IT HAS A BAD HABIT OF DOING THIS LATELY. DON'T PUT MUCH STOCK INTO A SINGLE MODEL RUN. LET'S JUST WATCH IT. IT WOULD NOT BE SURPRISING TO SEE A SOMETHING ON THE BACK END OF THIS SYSTEM WAY NORTH.

VERY cold temperatures are likely starting this weekend and beyond. Watch Saturday, Sunday, and next Wednesday morning.

Snow making possible with these temperatures. For more information on making your own snow, click on "MAKE IT SNOW" at the top of the page.

Beyond this period, I do expect temperatures to warm. We'll come out of this cold snap and have temperatures near or above average.
